While the uncertainty on whether Dhanush's Jagame Thandhiram will release theatrically or via OTT still prevailing, the actor has conveyed his wish about the film getting a theatrical release.

Dhanush took to Twitter where he said,

The film's director Karthik Subbaraj retweeted it and captioned it with the word, hopefully.

It was speculated last year that Jagame Thandhiram might opt for a theatrical release owing to theatre closures because of COVID-19 and the lockdown. But Karthik, in various interviews, had stated that the film was made for the big screens and the makers are waiting for theatres to resume back to normalcy. In an unexpected turn of events, there were speculations recently that the makers are planning on finalising a deal with a major OTT platform to release the film digitally.

While it's still unclear if the deal has been confirmed and whether the film will release online or in theatres, the tweet from Dhanush seems to indicate that even they are kept in the dark regarding the film's release. Incidentally, the central government has relaxed the SOPs for theatres to function and the seating capacity is back to 100 percent from how the 50 percent allowance that was previously allowed.

Produced by S Sashikanth's Y NOT Studios, Jagame Thandhiram also stars Aishwarya Lekshmi, James Cosmo and Kalaiyarasan.
