CE Features

Costume designer-producer Sushmita Konidela has reportedly acquired the Telugu remake rights of the Tamil crime-thriller 8 Thottakkal. Directed by Sri Ganesh, the film tells the story of an honest policeman, who accidentally loses his service pistol while tailing a criminal, and a frustrated quinquagenarian who gets hold of it.

"8 Thottakkal is an intriguing film that strikes a fine balance between action, thrill, and a fascinating story that has a global appeal. Sushmita is keen to bring such exciting and entertaining stories to the Telugu audience and has snapped the remake rights," says a source close to the development.

Sushmita, who earlier worked as a costume designer on films like Shankar Dada MBBS, Jai Chiranjeeva, Khaidi No.150, Rangasthalam and Syeraa Narasimha Reddy among others, turned producer last year with the crime drama web series, Shootout at Alair

Produced under her Gold Box Entertainments, the director, cast and crew of the Telugu remake of 8 Thottakkal are yet to be finalised. Starring Vetri and Aparna Balamurali, 8 Thottakkal, which is loosely based on the Japanese movie Stray Dog (1949), was also remade in Kannada as 8MM Bullet (2018).
