Dharma Productions on Friday officially announced that they will be recasting Dostana 2. Actor Kartik Aaryan will no longer be a part of the film. Directed by Collin D’Cunha, the in-production film also stars Janhvi Kapoor and Laksh Lalwani. 

“Due to professional circumstances, on which we have decided to maintain a dignified silence, we will be recasting Dostana 2, directed by Collin D'Cunha. Please wait for the official announcement soon," the banner said in a statement.

As per unconfirmed reports, Dharma has elected to no longer work with Kartik due to his alleged "unprofessional” conduct. The actor had already shot for 20 days for Dostana 2. He was also meant to star in another untitled film for the banner.

The news of Kartik’s sacking caused a stir online. Fans commented that the Love Aaj Kal actor does not need a big banner to back him up. Others compared his position to the alleged ill-treatment of Sushant Singh Rajput in the past.

Actor Kangana Ranaut was among those who took to Twitter and condemned the move by Dharma Productions. She affirmed her support for Kartik.
