Amazon Prime announces its first Indian anthology Putham Pudhu Kaalai

The Tamil anthology brings together directors Sudha Kongara, Gautham Menon, Suhasini Mani Ratnam, Rajiv Menon, and Karthik Subbaraj

Streaming platform Amazon Prime Video has announced its first original Indian anthology film. Titled Putham Pudhu Kaalai, the Tamil film brings together ace directors like Sudha Kongara, Gautham Menon, Suhasini Mani Ratnam, Rajiv Menon, and Karthik Subbaraj.

Putham Pudhu Kaalai will be released online on October 16 and will be available in more than 200 countries. A press release from Amazon Prime Video has said that the anthology will feature  'first of its kind stories of love, new beginnings, second chances, and a glimmer of hope'. All the stories are touted to be set during the times of the COVID-19 lockdown.

Sudha's segment is titled Ilamai Idho Idho and it stars Jayaram, Kalidas Jayaram, Urvashi, and Kalyani Priyadarshan. Gautham's Avarum Naanum/Avalum Naanum features MS Bhaskar and Ritu Varma, while Suhasini's Coffee, Anyone? has Anu Haasan and Shruti Hassan. Rajiv's segment, featuring Andrea, Leela Samson, and Sikkhil Gurucharan, is called ReunionMiracle is the title of Karthik's segment, starring Bobby Simha, and Muthu Kumar.

It may be noted that an announcement about Netflix's Tamil anthology on honor killing, with segments directed by Gautham Menon, Sudha Kongara, Vetrimaaran, and Vignesh Shivan is awaited this week.
