Legendary playback singer, SP Balasubrahmanyam, breathed his last in a private hospital in Chennai today. He was 74.

As the news about his death broke out, devastated fans of the singer took to social media to express their condolences. Members of the film fraternity too expressed their sadness over SPB's untimely demise.

Venkat Prabhu, filmmaker and a close family friend of the singer, was the first one to break the news on Twitter.

The singer was admitted on August 5 due to complications arising from COVID-19. On August 14 (Friday), it was announced that his condition had worsened, and he was shifted to the High Dependency Unit. Since then, he had remained on ECHO and other life support measures. However his condition worsened on Thursday, and SP Balasubrahmanyam succumbed to COVID related complications and breathed his last on Friday, September 25.
