We had earlier reported that K Bhagyaraj's yesteryear film, Munthanai Mudichu is getting a remake, and Sasikumar would play the lead in it. Now, it has been announced that Aishwarya Rajesh will be reprising Urvashi's role as the female lead.

Bhagyaraj will be handling the story, screenplay, and dialogues for the remake. The film is to be produced by JSB Sathish under his JSB Film Studios banner.

The makers released a photo of Bhagyaraj with Sasikumar and Aishwarya Rajesh. The rest of the cast and crew details are expected to be announced soon.

Interestingly, a sequel to Munthanai Mudichu, titled Mappillai Vinayagar, was shot in 2012 with Lollu Sabha Jeeva playing the lead role of the son of the characters played by Bhagyaraj and Urvashi in the original. But the film failed to get a theatrical release.
