We had previously reported that Suriya was set to join hands with director Pandiraj and Sun Pictures for his 40th film. This has now been confirmed by the production house Sun Pictures. 

Suriya 40 will mark Sun Pictures' first production starring the actor, and second film with Pandiraj after the Sivakarthikeyan-starrer Namma Veettu Pillai. This also the second time Pandiraj will be directing Suriya, after Pasanga 2. Pandiraj and Suriya previously collaborated on Kadaikutty Singam as well, which was produced by the actor's 2D Entertainment banner.

Like Pandiraj's earlier films, Suriya 40 is also expected to be a family entertainer. It is expected that Suriya will begin work on this project after completing the shoot for Vetri Maaran's Vaadi Vasal. 

The rest of the cast and crew of Suriya 40 is yet to be announced.

Meanwhile, Sun Pictures is also bankrolling Rajinikanth and Siva's Annaatthe, which features a large star cast that includes the likes of Khushbu, Meena, Nayanthara, Keerthy Suresh, and Prakash Raj.
