We had previously told you that Dhanush and composer Anirudh will most likely team up for the actor's 44th film. An official announcement from the project's production house, Sun Pictures has confirmed today that the hit duo is working together again after a gap of five years.

Anirudh, who made his debut with Dhanush's 3, went on to collaborate with the actor in various films like Velaiyilla Pattathari, Maari, and Thanga Magan. He has also worked on Dhanush's production ventures such as Ethir Neechal and Naanum Rowdy Dhaan.

It was announced in December that Sun Pictures would be bankrolling the yet-to-be-titled D44. Though there is no official announcement about the director, reliable sources state that Mithran R Jawahar, who has directed Dhanush thrice — in Yaaradi Nee Mohini, Kutty, and Uthamaputhiran — will be helming the film. The rest of the cast and crew details are expected to be announced soon. 

Meanwhile, Dhanush is awaiting the release of Karthik Subbaraj's Jagame Thanthiram, while Anirudh's Master, starring Vijay, is expected to be out for Pongal 2021.
