Sex Education-fame Aimee Lou Wood and BAFTA award-winning actor Bill Nighy join Oliver Hermanus’ new directorial, Living. The film is an adaptation of Akira Kurosawa’s 1952 classic, Ikiru. The screenplay of the adaptation is written by Nobel-winning Japanese novelist, Kazuo Ishiguro.

The tragic epic upholds humanity and the spirit of life when an aging civil servant nears death. Kurosawa used inventive narrative tools to unravel the story of an old man’s search for meaning and fulfilment in life.

Living follows the last days of a war veteran in post-World War II London. Hermanus’ English adaptation of the Japanese classic will be produced by Stephen Woolley and Elizabeth Karlsen’s Number 9 films.

Lou Wood will be seen next in the upcoming Amazon original film, Louis Wain, a biopic featuring Benedict Cumberbatch, Claire Foy, and Toby Jones in prominent roles.
