The trailer of Ananth Mahadevan’s Bittersweet is here. The film talks about an important issue faced by the women workers in the sugar fields of Beed district, Maharashtra.

Bittersweet explores how these women are forced to work even during their menstrual period, and seem to have no way out but to remove their wombs to avoid the pain and penalties when they are forced to take three to four days off from the sugar fields. While the corporate world has been debating on the serious issue of granting period leave to women who experience severe pain as part of its HR policies, the women workers of Beed face a traumatising future.

The cinematography, editing and use of music in the trailer, promises a gripping, distressing storytelling to look out for.

Starring Akshayaa Gurav, Bittersweet is produced by Suchhanda and Shubha Shetty under Quest Films Pvt Ltd, and was officially selected at the prestigious Busan International Film Festival.
