Kriti Sanon has reportedly been cast as Sita in Om Raut’s upcoming film, Adipurush. The big-budget adaptation of the Ramayana stars Prabhas in the lead role, with Saif Ali Khan essaying the antagonist Lankesh.

While no official confirmation has arrived, a leading daily reports that Kriti has been bagged the role of Sita in the multilingual epic. Earlier, actors like Anushka Sharma and Keerthy Suresh were rumoured to be considered for the part.

Meanwhile, reports have also emerged that actor Sunny Singh (Sonu Ke Titu Ki Sweety, Ujda Chaman) will be essaying the role of Laxman in the film.

A 3D epic, Adipurush will be shot in Hindi and Telugu simultaneously. It will be dubbed in Tamil, Malayalam, Kannada and other languages.

Presently in pre-production, the film is scheduled to go on floors in January 2021. It will be released worldwide on August 11, 2022 ahead of the Independence Day weekend.
