The Queen's Gambit has broken streaming records on Netflix, to become the most viewed limited series of all time on the platform.

The show, which premiered on October 23, stars Anya Taylor-Joy as Beth Harmon, an orphan and chess prodigy who must also deal with her addiction to pills.

According to Netflix, in the first 28 days on the platform, over 62 million households viewed The Queen's Gambit, making it the platform's most popular limited series to date.

The streaming service took to Twitter to also say that the 1983 novel by Walter Tevis that the show is based on reentered the New York Times' bestseller list. Moreover, according to Netflix, Google searches for 'How to play chess' have reached a nine-year peak.
