Actor-turned-politician Naga Babu, on Monday, sent out a volley of tweets in support of Nathuram Godse, the assassin of Mahatma Gandhi.  On the occasion of Godse's 120th birth anniversary, Naga Babu called him a patriot and stated that instead of presenting the views from Godse's point of view, the media, around that time, had represented the government's views.

"Godse was a true patriot. It is debatable whether his act of killing Gandhi was right or wrong but no media in his day presented his version and his point of view. Instead, they were subjected to the government’s views. The scene remains the same, even today," tweeted Naga Babu.

Further, he wrote, "He (Godse) did what he can without thinking of the consequences. Without questioning his patriotism, today, I remember him on his birth anniversary. I feel sad for him. May his soul rest in peace."

The actor's tweets have triggered a sharp reaction from his followers, who condemned his remarks through their replies.
