We had previously reported that Rajinikanth's film with director Siva is titled Annaatthe and features an array of top actors. It's now known that the film will be released for Pongal 2021. This news was announced on social media by Sun Pictures, which is bankrolling the project.

Annaatthe marks the first collaboration between Rajinikanth and Siva. This film is composer Imman's first film with both the actor and second with the director. 

Apart from Rajinikanth, Annaatthe stars Meena, Khushboo, Keerthy Suresh, Nayanthara, Prakashraj, Robo Shankar, Soori, and Sathish.

Said to be a rural drama, Annaatthe will have Vetri and Ruben handle cinematography and editing, respectively. The shooting for the film will continue once the lockdown is revoked.
