Chilean filmmaker Pablo Larraín’s Ema (2019) is now streaming exclusively on MUBI. Earlier, on May 1, MUBI had hosted a free virtual preview of the film.

Ema stars Mariana Di Girolamo, Cristian Suares, Gael García Bernal, Paola Giannini and Santiago Cabrera. It had its world premiere in competition at the Venice Film Festival in 2019.

The film’s synopsis reads, “Ema (Di Girolamo) is a young dancer in a reggaeton troupe: effortlessly magnetic and dangerously impulsive. Her toxic marriage to older choreographer Gastón (Gael García Bernal) is beyond repair, following a rash decision to hand their adopted child Polo back into the hands of the state. Racked with regret, she sets out on a mission to get her son back, not caring who she’ll need to fight, seduce or destroy to make it happen.”

MUBI was launched in India in November last year. It’s film channels - MUBI INDIA and MUBI WORLD — are available for subscription for ₹499 per month.
