The speculations that Gautham Menon and Kamal Haasan are teaming up for the sequel to Vettaiyaadu Vilaiyaadu have turned out to be true. Recently, Gautham Menon confirmed that he has narrated the script of  the sequel to Kamal Haasan.

The actor-director, in an interview, said that he is excited to shoot the introduction scene of the sequel. He added that he will once again discuss the script with Kamal before proceeding with the project. The sequel might take off in April, according to the director.

The original came out in 2006 and turned out to be a blockbuster. Kamal played the role of DCP Raghavan, who hunts down two psychopathic serial killers. Even after 14 years, the character of Raghavan is still fresh in the memories of Tamil cinema fans and is also part of Tamil pop culture.

Other than Kamal, the film also starred Jyothika, Daniel Balaji, and Prakash Raj.

Vels Film International is reportedly bankrolling the Vettaiyaadu Vilaiyaadu sequel. Gautham Menon's next film Joshua: Imai Pol Kaakha, which features Varun in the lead role, is also produced by the same banner.
