Coronavirus outbreak: Movie theatres in Mumbai to remain shut till March 30

Public places such as movie theatres, malls and swimming pools will remain shut in Mumbai and surrounding cities till March 30 due to the coronavirus pandemic, Maharashtra Chief Minister Uddhav Thackeray announced on Friday.

“All malls, theaters, gyms, swimming pools in Mumbai, Navi Mumbai, Thane, Nagpur, Pimpri-Chinchwad to be closed starting midnight today till March 30,” the CM is quoted as saying.

Two cases of novel coronavirus (COVID-19) have been confirmed in Mumbai so far. The release of upcoming Bollywood titles including Sooryavanshi and Sir have also been postponed in public interest.

Kerala, Delhi, and Jammu and Kashmir have also ordered the closure of theatres.
