The coronavirus pandemic has shaken the world, and it is also starting to affect the Tamil cinema industry. The shooting of Vikram's upcoming film Cobra has been stopped midway in Russia due to the pandemic.

Also starring Srinidhi Shetty and Irfan Pathan, the film's shooting has been stopped due to the travel ban imposed by the Indian government, according to the director, Ajay Gnanamuthu, who took to Twitter to share the news with his followers.

Across the world, the COVID-19 pandemic has taken a toll on the box office collection of movies as people are avoiding going to theatres. Many big-budget films including James Bond movie No Time To Die are getting postponed. Theatres have also been shut in Kerala and Jammu in India.

However, theatres in Tamil Nadu are not yet affected by the issue. When asked about the impact of the Coronavirus scare on the Tamil Nadu box office, a popular theatre in Chennai said that there is no evident decrease in footfalls in theatre because of this global crisis.
