T Rajendar, president of film distributors' association, has said that they are planning to not release any new films after March 27 in protest against TDS (tax deduction from source) on distributors' income. The association has sought the state government to hold talks with the Centre and remove the TDS.

Speaking on the matter, film distributors' association secretary Mannan said, "The association is firm in its decision. While the 12% GST and 8% local body entertainment tax is already causing a loss for us, from April, TDS will be enforced, which will result in more loss. So we are contemplating whether we must stop releasing all films from March 27."

With big films such as Master lining up for release next month, Mannan added, "We can only hope that the government considers our woes and takes a positive decision. Our protest will continue till then."
