The Conjuring director James Wan will produce the next monster movie for Universal under his Atomic Monster banner, say reports. However, Wan will not direct the project. This development comes following the success of Universal’s sci-fi horror film The Invisible Man.

Robbie Thompson, who's currently a writer on Netflix's Cursed, is developing the script for the untitled horror thriller.

The story revolves around a group of teens who discover a monster is being built in their neighbour's house, which later manages to escape. According to reports, the plot will follow in the lines of Universal’s classic monster legacy with a modern touch to it.

Atomic Monster's creepy thriller Malignant, directed by Wan, is due for release on August 14. The company is also producing The Conjuring: The Devil Made Me Do Itset for release on September 11 and There’s Someone Inside Your House for Netflix.
