Jonas Akerlund to direct biopic on The Beatles manager

A biographical film about the life of The Beatles manager Brian Epstein is in development. Swedish filmmaker Jonas Akerlund all set to helm the film titled Midas Man. Akerlund, is known for his works in PolarHorsemen and Lord of Chaos.

Midas Man will follow the journey of the music manager who was popularly referred to as the Fifth Beatle, and also worked with bands such as Cilla Black and Gerry and the Pacemakers. Epstein also promoted popular musicians Pink Floyd, Jimi Hendrix, The Who and Cream. He died at 32 due to drug overdose. "It's an emotional, witty, heartfelt story of the joy of success and the terrifying pressures of unspeakable risk and unfulfilled desire," the makers said. 

Trevor Beattie Films and StudioPOW are set to produce the film, which will be developed on the original screenplay by Brigit Grant and Jonathan Wakeham. Shooting is expected to take place in UK and US with the film likely to be released next year.
