Ten years ago today, Tamil cinema's first full-length spoof film, rightly titled Thamizh Padam, made its way to the screens. A head-turner a decade back — its success even spawning a sequel — the makers are yet to put their trolling ways to rest. They released a 10-year poster for the film that takes a dig at the current political climate and controversial amendments passed by the ruling government.

The poster has the words, 'No CAA, No NPR and No NRC' in bold letters but when you zoom in, the abbreviations expand as 'Cutout Atrocities by Agilaulaga Superstar (CAA)', 'Nonsensical Problems during Release (RPR)', and 'Nadigar Sangam Related Controversies (NRC)', respectively. If that is not enough, the poster also carries the tagline 'Azaadi from cliches'. 

Interestingly, the film's director CS Amudhan took to Twitter yesterday evening and said, "Dear Sashikanth and YNot Studios, I have not yet received the poster to be published tomorrow. I hope you don’t do anything controversial. I don’t want any negative feedback.". Producer Sashkanth of Y Not Studios replied to this, saying, "You know us right. Rest assured, nothing controversial. Sleep well, goodnight."

Thamizh Padam, which was released in 2010, marked the debut of Amudhan as well as Sashikanth. Starring Shiva in the lead, the film also featured Disha Pandey, MS Bhaskar, Venniradai Moorthy, Manobala, and a host of comedians.
