Werner Herzog to be honoured by American Society of Cinematographers

Werner Herzog, the German filmmaker, who is one of the icons of German new wave cinema, will be honoured by Amercian Society of Cinematographers' 34th annual ASC Awards on January 25. The association's prestigious Board of Governors Award will be given to the director at the award ceremony.

Werner Herzog’s films are known for dealing with profound questions about life and the director lays bare certain hard realities about life and nature with his films. He is known for his films Aguirre, The Wrath of God, Fitzcarraldo, and Grizzly Man

He recently played the role of The Client in the Star Wars series, The Mandalorian. He plays a recurring character in the show and has appeared in about three episodes so far.

Herzog is also the winner of many other notable awards including Cannes Best Director Award and Directors Guild of America Award for Outstanding Directorial Achievement in Documentary.
