The Maanadu team made a slew of announcements to celebrate their lead actor Simbu’s birthday yesterday.

It has been revealed that director-actor SJ Suryah has been roped in to play an important role in this political film. Actors Y Gee Mahendran, Manoj Bharathiraja, and Bigg Boss-fame Daniel Anne Pope will also be part of the film.

It is notable that Suryah had launched a film named AC, starring Simbu and Asin, several years ago. But the project was dropped due to several reasons. Maanadu will thus be the first collaboration of Suryah and Simbu.

Directed by Venkat Prabhu, Maanadu has Kalyani Priyadarshan playing the female lead. The film, produced by Suresh Kamatchi, will have music by Yuvan Shankar Raja.
