Malayalam director Anwar Rasheed has revealed in a recent interview that he will be directing a rural-based Tamil film starring Kaithi breakout actor Arjun Das. The film will have a script by Anjaam Pathira writer-director Midhun Manuel Thomas.

Midhun has confirmed his involvement via his social media handle. "Yup, it's official. I'm writing the screenplay for Anwar Rasheed's Tamil directorial debut. Arjun Das is playing the main lead. Details soon," he wrote.

A filmmaker known for delivering successive hits in Malayalam such as Rajamanikyam and Ustad Hotel, Anwar has also produced other Malayalam blockbusters such as Premam and Bangalore Days. However, his last directorial Trance did not make the desired impact at the box office. Though the film met with polarised reactions upon release, it was relatively well-accepted by non-Malayali viewers after its release on Amazon Prime Video.

Midhun Manuel is mostly known for his light-hearted entertainers, the most notable being his Aadu series of films. However, he delivered his biggest hit when he ventured into thriller territory for the first time with Anjaam Pathira, a serial killer story. The film was Malayalam's first blockbuster of this year.

Arjun Das' other upcoming projects include Vijay-starrer Master, which reunites him with Kaithi director Lokesh Kanagaraj, and Andhagaaram.
