Reports came out earlier today suggesting that iconic singer SP Balasubrahmanyam, who is hospitalised due to coronavirus infection, has tested negative for COVID-19. However, he is still on life support according to his son SP Charan.

In a video clip, Charan said, "Regardless of whether the test result is positive or negative, his (SPB) status is still the same. Clinically, he is on life-support... on a ventilator. He is stable fortunately and we are hoping that the stability will help him recover his lungs as early as possible."

After a discussion with the medical team, Charan will be releasing another video in the evening with more updates about his father's condition. Meanwhile, he requested people to stop rumor-mongering.

SP Balasubrahmanyam got admitted to a Chennai hospital on August 5 after testing positive for COVID-19. After a few days, his health deteriorated and the singer was put on life support.
