Actor-filmmaker Olivia Wilde has reportedly been signed by Sony Pictures to helm a film for their universe of Marvel characters. Sources state that the film will be centred around a female character. Though there are no confirmations yet, it is believed that the film will be about Spider-Woman.

The film will be penned by Katie Silberman with Amy Pascal producing it. Notably, Wilde, Silberman and Pascal are working on a Christmas buddy film at Universal, which they hope to make before commencing this superhero film. 

This marks the second film with a female character in Sony’s universe of Marvel characters, as SJ Clarkson was roped to direct a Madame Webb movie recently. Interestingly, Sony is also developing Black Cat and Silver Sable films in an attempt to expand and diversify their universe.
