Actor-filmmaker Nishikant Kamat on ventilator support, death reports false

Actor-filmmaker Nishikant Kamat is alive and on ventilator support, AIG Hospitals in Hyderabad said in a statement. Actor Riteish Deshmukh, who had worked with Nishikant in Lai Bhaari, also tweeted that the director is alive.

“Nishikant kamat is on ventilator support. He is still alive & fighting. Let’s pray for him,” Riteish wrote.

Nishikant was diagnosed with chronic liver disease and secondary infections last week. He was admitted to the AIG Hospitals in Hyderabad. On Monday noon, it was erroneously reported that the 50-year-old filmmaker had succumbed to his ailments and passed away. Writer-director Milap Zavari had mourned Nishikant’s loss on Twitter, later clarifying that he was still alive and battling life and death.

Nishikant has directed Marathi films like Dombivali Fast, Lai Bhaari and Fugay. In Bollywood, he is noted for the films Mumbai Meri Jaan, Force, Drishyam, Madaari and Rocky Handsome. As an actor, Nishikant is known for his roles in Rocky Handsome, Daddy and Bhavesh Joshi Superhero.
