Naseeruddin Shah and his family have dispelled rumours of the actor being hospitalised. On Thursday, while the world mourned Rishi Kapoor’s loss, a news channel and sections of the media claimed Naseer’s health had deteriorated and he was admitted to a hospital.

The news was later refuted by the 69-year-old actor on Facebook. “I thank all those enquiring after my health and reassure them I am fine I’m at home and observing the lockdown. Please don’t believe any rumours,” Naseer wrote.

Naseer’s son Vivaan also issued a clarification. He tweeted, “All well everyone! Baba's just fine. All the rumours about his health are fake. He's keeping well. Praying for Irfan Bhai and Chintu ji. Missing them a lot. Deepest condolences to their families. Our hearts go out to all of them. It's a devastating loss for all of us.”

Earlier on Thursday, Naseer’s niece Saira Shah Halim had reacted angrily to the reports.

“Can we sue this channel?? #NaseeruddinShah is perfectly fine. My father @zoomshah spoke to him a while ago. This is fake news!!” she wrote.
