Jyotika-starrer Ponmagal Vandhal, produced by Suriya's 2D Entertainment, might skip theatrical release and arrive directly on OTT. It is said that the streaming rights of the feature film has been bagged by Amazon Prime Video and Ponmagal Vandhal will be available on the platform from the 1st week of May. Theatre owners have strongly reacted to this development. The general secretary of the Tamil Nadu Theatre Owners Association, R Pannerselvam, condemned the reports and said films made for theatrical release must not directly release on OTTs.

Pannerselvam claimed that the film's producer, when contacted, refused to change the decision. Following this, he has announced that their association won't release any films by the production house and the companies involved with them. "They can release all their films on OTTs. Our theaters don't need their films," he has said. Watch,
