Anurag Kashyap praises Vijay Varma’s performance in Bamfaad

CE Features

Anurag Kashyap is impressed with Vijay Varma’s performance in Bamfaad. Directed by Ranjan Chandel, the Allahabad-set film stars Aditya Rawal and Shalini Pandey in the lead roles. Vijay essays Jigar Fareedi, a local goon with political support.

“Vijay and I started (our) careers with films like Chittagong and Monsoon Shootout, in which he was the lead and I was the producer,” Anurag shared. “When I saw the first cut of Bamfaad, I immediately called up Vijay and told him that with this role, a new aspect of him has come out. I think it's one of the best approaches to a performance by an actor. One can feel the power of the character when Jigar Fareedi is there on screen."

Bamfaad was recently released on ZEE5 amid the lockdown. Vijay’s upcoming film Hurdang is also set in Allahabad. He essays the character Rasheed in Mira Nair’s A Suitable Boy adaptation. The actor will also be seen in Reema Kagti’s upcoming web-series Fallen and a science-fiction comedy film produced by Anand Gandhi.
