Producer Ekta Kapoor has forgone a year’s salary to help her employees during the coronavirus lockdown. The Balaji Telefilms head wants to ensure daily wage earners and production people do not suffer because of the shutdown.

“It is my first and foremost responsibility to take care of the various freelancers and daily wage workers who work at Balaji and who are going to suffer immense loss due to no shootings in the current scenario and uncertainty over the indefinite period to follow,” Ekta shared on her social media.

“I will thus forgo my one year's salary, that is 2.5 crores, at Balaji Telefilms so that my co-workers don’t have to take a hit during this period of crisis and complete lockdown,” she added.

Last month, Balaji Telefilms, Balaji Motion Pictures, and ALTBalaji suspended all productions in light of the coronavirus spread. Ekta has also pledged to contribute to various relief funds to help during the crisis.
