Arjun Kapoor will be playing the lead in the official Hindi remake of the hit Tamil film Comali. Producer Boney Kapoor, who recently made his first Tamil film Nerkonda Paarvaai, has acquired the remake rights of the Jayam Ravi-starrer.

"We are pleased to have acquired remake rights of Comali for all languages. Arjun will be playing the lead in Hindi," Boney said in a statement.

Comali traces the story of a man who gets stuck in coma for 16 years and struggles to adjust to the modern era after he wakes up. The original film, written and directed by Pradeep Ranganathan, starred Kajal Aggarwal and Samyuktha Hegde as the female leads.

Boney is currently producing Ajay Devgn's Maidaan, directed by Amit Sharma, and his first Telugu film, an official remake of Badhaai Ho, is slated to go on floors soon.
