Director Perarasu, known for films such as Thirupaachi, Sivakasi, and Thirupathi, has refuted rumours that he will be making a directorial comeback in Tamil, with a film starring Vijay. This comes after veteran stunt choreographer Jaguar Thangam, in a recent audio release event, said that the director will be reuniting with Vijay for a project very soon.

In an official statement, Perarasu said, "I came across articles stating that I will be collaborating with Vijay for a film. I assumed the rumours would subside after a while, but the articles kept coming in saying the project was confirmed. Though it is true that I have a script in hand for Vijay, nothing has been confirmed as of now. My script and I are waiting for him, and if it becomes a film, I would be happy."

Perarasu's last film was his Malayalam debut titled Samrajyam II: Son of Alexander in 2015. His last Tamil film was the 2012 Bharath-starrer Thiruthani
