A new plagiarism accusation has been levied against director Atlee by a producer-director named Meeraan, according to reports.

The producer claims that Bigil is based on his story, which he had registered back in 2015. He has now filed a complaint against the makers with the Tamil Film Producers Council.

The makers of Bigil are already fighting a legal case in Chennai High Court, which was filed by a director named Selva, who accused Atlee of plagiarising his story. Selva has also said that he had already registered the story with South Indian Film Writers Association.

Selva has sought a ban on Bigil's release. The makers have been asked to submit the script and relevant documents to the court.

In recent times, almost all the films of Vijay seem to face legal issues before they hit the screens. This trend began with Thalaivaa in 2013.

Thuppaaki faced the wrath of a few sections of the Muslim community, who claimed that his film showed them in a bad light. Sarkar and Mersal too faced similar legal issues before their release.

Meanwhile, the trailer of Bigil has set the expectations sky-high among fans of Vijay. The trailer is currently breaking many records on YouTube.

Also starring Nayanthara, Yogi Babu, Jackie Shroff, and Kathir, Bigil has music by AR Rahman.
