Anthony Maras’s Hotel Mumbai will be released in India on November 22. The international co-production was previously released in Australia and the United States.

The film is a biographical drama inspired by the documentary Surviving Mumbai, based on 26/11 Mumbai attacks in 2008. The story is told from the perspectives of Taj Mahal Palace Hotel chef Hemant Oberoi (Anupam Kher), waiter Arjun (Dev Patel), and guests David (Armie Hammer) and Zahra (Nazanin Boniadi).

Hotel Mumbai had its world premiere at the Toronto International Film Festival in 2018. It was also screened at the Adelaide Film Festival in Australia. Initially, Netflix was set to distribute the film in India and South-Asian territories. However, the film was dropped by the streaming platform following a contractual dispute with Indian distributor, Plus Holdings.

Anupam Kher’s international credits include Bend It Like Beckham, Lust, Caution, Silver Linings Playbook, and the NBC drama series New Amsterdam.

Dev Patel was last seen in Lion and The Wedding Guest.
