Vijay's upcoming film with director Lokesh Kanagaraj, tentatively referred to as Thalapathy 64, went on floors yesterday. The film's casting announcements have received a lot of attention, and the film has therefore been trending on social media over the past few days.

Now, director Rathna Kumar, who earlier made Meyaadha Maan and Aadai, has confirmed that he is on board as an additional screenplay writer for Thalapathy 64, and will be collaborating on the script with Lokesh Kanagaraj and Pon Parthiban.

Thalapathy 64 is set to star Vijay Sethupathi (likely as the antagonist), Angamaly Diaries-fame Antony Varghese in his Tamil debut, Petta-fame Malavika Mohanan as the female lead, and Shanthnu Bhagyaraj.

Lokesh, who is currently awaiting the release of his second directorial, Kaithi, is teaming up once again with his editor and cinematographer for the Karthi-starrer, Philomin Raj and Sathyan Sooriyan, respectively.

With music by Anirudh Ravichander, Thalapathy 64, produced by XB Film Creators, is scheduled to have a Summer 2020 release.
