RJ Balaji's debut directorial, Mookuthi Amman, starring Nayanthara, has gone on floors. The film commenced its shooting today with a small ceremony, which was held at Bhagavathi Amman Temple in Kanyakumari. Later, filming started at Nagercoil. The first schedule will reportedly happen there, and Nayanthara is expected to join the crew soon.

Balaji has written the story, screenplay, and dialogues of Mookuthi Amman, which he will be co-directing with NJ Saravanan.

Reports also suggest that contrary to the film's title, Mookuthi Amman will be a satire.

The film will be bankrolled by Vels Films International, which incidentally produced LKG, Balaji's debut film as a lead actor. Apart from this project the banner is also producing Gautham Menon's next, Joshua, and has released the director's long-delayed project, Enai Noki Paayum Thota.

Meanwhile, Nayanthara, who recently starred in Bigil, will next be seen in Rajinikanth's Darbar and Netrikann, directed by Milind Rau of Aval fame.
