Rajinikanth's next film, Darbar, directed by AR Murugadoss and produced by Lyca Productions, is currently in post-production and is slated for a Pongal 2020 release. Reports are now rife that Rajinikanth has recently given the nod to Gautham Menon for a film, after being impressed by his script.

Vels Films International, which's releasing the filmmaker's long-delayed Enai Nokki Paayum Thotta, is apparently interested in producing this mega project. An official announcement is expected soon.

Ishari Ganesh of Vels Films International is also producing GVM's upcoming project, Joshua, and also two more of his directorials, starring Suriya and Anushka Shetty, respectively. If Gautham's film with Rajinikanth materialises, it will be the banner's fifth project with Gautham.

Meanwhile, Rajinikanth will next be teaming up with director Siva for a rural family drama, Thalaivar 168, produced by Sun Pictures, which could go on floors in the first week of December.
