Debamitra Biswal, the director of Nawazuddin Siddiqui’s upcoming film Motichoor Chaknachoor, has been accused of fraud. Allegedly, the director tried to illegally sell the film’s rights to a distributor in Bihar.

In a statement petition filed on November 6, Biswal has allegedly admitted to selling the rights and taking money fraudulently without the knowledge of the production house. The petitioner also claims the act was conducted in collusion with female lead Athiya Shetty.

The legal counsel of Woodpecker Movies, Ramesh Jain, said, "The matter is of clear fraud and collusion and we are now investigating and approaching the honourable court for relief of same."

Motichoor Chaknachoor is a romantic comedy about a middle-aged man looking for a bride. Recently, it was rumoured that the film’s release has been stayed by a court in Bihar. A source, however, clarified that the film is on track and will release on November 15.
