Nadigar Sangam members and former office bearers Nasser, Karthi, Poochi Murugan, Manobala, and Sachu, in a press meet today, have said that the government’s appointment of a special officer to oversee the functions of Nadigar Sangam is a 'murder of democracy'.

The election of the new office bearers was held on 23 June 2019, and the counting has still not begun as the Tamil Nadu government has declared that the election was not conducted fairly. While the case regarding this is still ongoing in Madras High Court, the government had appointed PV Geetha, Assistant Inspector General of Registration, as Special Officer to oversee the functioning of the association.

The Nasser-led faction said that ever since they assumed power, everything in Nadigar Sangam had happened according to the law and the accusations against them were, thus, baseless. The members said that they will cooperate with the special officer as it is their duty. However, they are going to file a writ against her appointment in the court.

When asked if the Nadigar Sangam is facing problems due to Vishal’s political aspirations, the members said that those are just assumptions.
