Vikram Prabhu, who was last seen as a cop in Dinesh Selvaraj's Thuppaki Munai, will next be seen as a con artiste in Asura Guru, a crime thriller helmed by debutant Rajdeep, a gold-medalist from the Chennai Film Institute, and an erstwhile assistant of director Mohan Raja.

A source close to the unit says that Vikram will be playing a swindler, who smartly steals from a corrupt person (played by Nagineedu), and also the government. The source adds that Mahima Nambiar, who plays the female lead, will be seen in a new look as the private detective on the hunt. It's to be noted that Mahima had shared a video of her training in martial arts, archery and swimming for the film, earlier this month. She had captioned the video, "The transformation from the girl next door to this role was not easy."

Produced by JSB Studios, Asura Guru also stars Baahubali fame Subba Raju as a cop, and Yogibabu in an important role. The film, with music by Renigunda fame Ganesh Raghavendraand, is expected to get a release in the third quarter of the year.
