Actor-filmmaker Raghava Lawrence, who was recently signed to direct the Hindi remake of his superhit 2011 Tamil horror-comedy Muni 2: Kanchana, titled Laaxmi Bomb, has opted out of the project.

Less than a month after the project went on floors, Lawrence decided to call it quits after the makers apparently unveiled the film's first look on Saturday without his knowledge.

"There is an adage in Tamil which translates to 'Do not step into the house where you are not respected'. More than money and fame, self-respect is the most important attribute to a person's character. So I have decided to step out of the project," Lawrence wrote in a long note he posted on his Twitter page.

The actor further attributed his decision to exit to many reasons. "Although there are many, my primary grouse is that the first look poster of the film was released without my knowledge, without discussing anything with me. I was informed about this by a third person. Imagine how painful it would for a filmmaker to learn about his film's first look release from others!

In the words of the director, he felt "insulted" and "disappointed".

"As a creator, I'm also not satisfied with the poster design. Such an insult shouldn't happen to any director. I can hold back my script because I haven't signed any agreement regarding this film, but I won't do it because I personally respect Akshay Kumar sir a lot," Lawrence said.

He further went on to add that the makers are free to find a replacement for him. "I will soon meet Akshay and hand over the script and step out of the project in a cordial manner," the actor wrote

In Laxmmi Bomb, Akshay plays a scaredy-cat, who gets possessed by a ghost of a wronged transgender person.  Kiara Advani has been signed to play the female lead.
