The first schedule of Rajinikanth's Darbar, which went on floors in Mumbai in the second week of April, has been completed. The shooting is expected to resume after a week's break. 

Nayanthara, who has previously worked with Rajini in Chandramukhi and Kuselan, plays the female lead in the AR Murugadoss-directorial. Several Bollywood actors have also joined the cast of Darbar, including Dalip Tahil, Pradeep Kabra, Prateik Babbar, and Jatin Sarna. Apart from them, Nivetha Thomas and Yogi Babu are also a part of the film. 

Produced by Lyca Productions, Darbar is scheduled for release on January 9, 2020. Rajinikanth was last seen in Petta, directed by Karthik Subbaraj. On the other hand, AR Murugadoss’s last directorial venture was the Vijay-starrer Sarkar.
