Actor Arjan Bajwa plays the role of Shahid Kapoor’s elder brother in Kabir Singh. The character was originally played Kamal Kamaraju in the 2017 original, Arjun Reddy.

Arjan, who was last seen in the Bollywood film Rustom (2016) and has worked in several Telugu films in the past, says he has given his own spin to his pivotal part in Kabir Singh.

“Sandeep Reddy, the director, approached me to play the part because he wanted an actor to match Shahid’s physical appearance, since we are brothers. I watched the original Telugu version and did my own take on the character, which was played differently by another actor,” Arjan says.

On the importance of the character to the story, he adds, “The protagonist Kabir Singh has a tumultuous journey. As the trailer suggests, he is a rebellious man. So whenever he is in trouble, be it in his love life or in his career, his only saviour is his brother. I come to his rescue whenever something goes wrong. So in that sense, it's an important character."
