Manmarziyaan co-stars Abhishek Bachchan and Taapsee Pannu might reunite for Sanjay Leela Bhansali’s long-gestating Sahir Ludhianvi biopic, according to reports. Over the years, several names have been attached to the project, from Shah Rukh Khan and Priyanka Chopra to Irrfan Khan and Deepika Padukone. Last year, it was learnt that Bhansali has finalized Abhishek as the lead of the biopic, and looks like the director has found his female lead in Taapsee. As per reports, Bhansali has centred the film on the unrequited love story between Ludhianvi and fellow poet Amrita Pritam. Curiously, a pivotal scene in Manmarziyaan featured lines from Pritam’s famous poem ‘Main Tenu Phir Milangi’, and the film itself was interpreted to be modelled on the love triangle between Ludhianvi, Pritam and the painter Imroz.

Sanjay Leela Bhansali recent announced his upcoming directorial, Inshallah — starring Salman Khan and Alia Bhatt. He is expected to commence work on the Sahir Ludhianvi biopic after finishing Inshallah, which goes on floors in September this year. Taapsee Pannu’s latest release was Badla, co-starring Amitabh Bachchan. Directed by Sujoy Ghosh, the murder mystery film has become a box-office hit. Taapsee is currently working on Saand Ki Aankh.
