One of last year’s biggest hits Pariyerum Perumal will now get a Kannada remake. While the original was helmed by Mari Selvaraj, the Kannada version will be directed by Gandhi Manivasagam, who earlier directed Kalavani Mappillai in Tamil. The untitled project will star actor Maitreya in the lead. The rest of the cast and crew are yet to be finalised. The film is expected to go on floors soon in Bangalore.

Notably, Maitreya was in the news earlier as he claimed that director Mysskin had duped him of Rs 1 crore in return for an acting opportunity. He further claimed that Mysskin's Psycho (which has Udhayanidhi in the lead)was supposed to star him initially.

Pariyerum Perumal was produced by Pa Ranjith under his productional banner Neelam Productions. The original starred Kathir, Anandhi, and Yogi Babu in key roles.
