Speculations are running rife that director Gautham Vasudev Menon has been roped in to play Dhruv Vikram's father in Adithya Varma, the official Tamil remake of Telugu blockbuster, Arjun Reddy. An official confirmation is awaited in this regard.

It must be noted that Gautham is currently directing Dhruva Natchathiram with Dhruv's father, Vikram, in the lead.

Earlier, director Bala's version of the Tamil remake of Arjun Reddy, which was initially scheduled for release in March, was scrapped in the last moment, after E4 Entertainment, the film's production house announced that they are not happy with the Bala-directed Varmaa, and will therefore not be releasing it. They went on to reveal that Dhruv will be retained in the new version of the remake, which they would be shooting. Later,  Priya Anand, October-fame Banita Sandhu, cinematographer Ravi K Chandran and director Gireesaaya, a former associate of Arjun Reddy-director Sandeep Vanga, were confirmed to be part of the new version. Before Gireesaaya was signed as the new director, rumours were rife that Gautham Menon was being considered for directing the updated version.
