CE Features

Miranda Richardson, who played Rita Skeeter in the Harry Potter and the Goblet of Fire, has been cast in the Game of Thrones spin-off, The Long Night. The prequel show sees Richardson join an ensemble cast, which has Naomi Watts in the lead.

The Long Night is written by the creator of the Song of Ice and Fire franchise George RR Martin (who also serves as the co-executive producer) and Jane Goldman, who takes up the showrunner duties.

The prequel, set thousands of years before the events of Game of Thrones, will chronicle the descent of the golden Age of Heroes into its darkest hour. The story is expected to throw more light into the true origin of the White Walkers, clear up the mysteries of Essos, and also showcase some of the legendary Starks.

Game of Thrones meanwhile, returns for its final season on April 14.
