A horror thriller, titled Thik Thik, starring Mumtaj, Saranya Bhagyraj, and debutant Tharun Bala, initially scheduled for release in August 2007, will be hitting the theatres this year. Directed by Igor, and now retitled as Valaiyam, the film's motion-poster was recently released on Twitter by Amala Paul.

Igor, who made a controversial debut with his 2006 romantic-thriller Kalabha Kadhalan, went on to direct Vandha Malai in 2015, after Thik Thik was indefinitely delayed. Incidentally, the film's producer, David Raj, attempted to get a delayed release for the film in late 2011, but was unsuccessful.

Valaiyam, which has music by D Imman, will technically mark the comeback of both Mumtaj and Saranya Bhagyaraj to the Tamil film industry. While Mumtaj was last seen in the 2009 Raghava Lawrence-starrer, Rajadhi Raja, Saranya's last on-screen appearance was in the 2006 comedy-drama, Parijatham, directed by her father, Bhagyaraj, and co-starring Prithviraj.
